EDB Highlights CloudNativePG 1.29, Previews Kubernetes-Native Data Protection at KubeCon Europe
EnterpriseDB (EDB) is highlighting the community release of CloudNativePG 1.29 and previewing a new Kubernetes-native data protection capability for its commercial operator, the company said at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2026 in Amsterdam.
The update to CloudNativePG, an open source PostgreSQL operator for Kubernetes, adds modular extensions and supply chain security features intended to reduce the need for custom database images. EDB said users will be able to install only the PostgreSQL extensions they need, including options for AI-driven vector search, while relying on verified components and software bill of materials support.
In parallel, EDB said it is previewing an enterprise data protection solution for its EDB Postgres AI for CloudNativePG operator. The company said the capability is designed to provide zero data loss through native write-ahead log streaming, along with centralized management, disaster recovery support and end-to-end encryption.
EDB positioned the work as part of a broader push for data and AI sovereignty and security compliance in Europe, pointing to requirements such as the EU Cyber Resilience Act. The company said it is aiming to help organizations run PostgreSQL across on-premises and cloud environments without locking in to a single provider.
